New multisport pitch provides active breaks

Denmark’s Nyborg Private School has 425 students between the ages of 6 and 16. With a history dating back to 1882, the school takes great pride in its outstanding facilities for academic and more creative disciplines – and its first-rate outdoor facilities.

The school boasts a splendid location near the railway station and the medieval castle in the centre of Nyborg, a town of some 25,000 inhabitants.

Nyborg Private School's time-honoured seal contains the motto "For mind and body", and the school recognises the importance of break-time activities and their significance for the students' general well-being.

The motto was not forgotten when a new schoolyard was planned in 2010. The yard was divided into a zone for primary school children, equipped with KOMPAN Nature Expedition products, and a secondary school area.

A primary goal was to make sure that secondary school students enjoyed plenty of physical activity during breaks, so the school chose a KOMPLAY pitch to motivate activity for teenagers as well. As headmaster Per Larsen puts it, "The transparency of the pitch makes it easy for all to use it and for the teachers to monitor the schoolyard. The pitch has turned our school yard into a hub of activity and positive interplay during breaks and when used in physical education classes. The effect on the children's classroom behaviour is remarkable."
